Education advocate Harvey Bischof wins the Ontario NDP nomination for Brantford Brant

BRANTFORD — New Democrats in Brantford came together to nominate Harvey Bischof, the former president of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation, high school teacher and well-known champion of public education, to be the Ontario NDP’s candidate in Brantford—Brant for the next election.

“I am excited to join Marit Stiles and the Ontario NDP team to fight for what matters the most to the Brantford Brant community: good schools, affordable homes, reliable health care, and a more affordable life,” said Bischof. “Six years of Doug Ford and his cuts have eroded our public education system. Our kids can’t afford more Conservative cuts. Overcrowded classrooms, ballooning repair backlogs, resource shortages - this should not be the reality in our public schools. Decades of Liberal and Conservative governments have neglected to invest in our public education system. It’s time for a government that does - and that government is the NDP, with Marit Stiles as our next premier!”

“Harvey has been an incredible advocate for public education whose leadership always put our kids first,” said Marit Stiles, Ontario NDP leader. “People in our province are working harder than ever, but life has only gotten harder after six years of Ford. Nowhere is that more apparent than in our classrooms, with growing class sizes, crumbling schools, and a shortage of teachers and education workers. We need voices like Harvey’s at Queen’s Park, who will put our education system and our kids first, and will end the decades of neglect from Liberal and Conservative governments. I am so proud to have Harvey carry our banner in Brantford - Brant!”
