QUEEN’S PARK — Ontario’s Official Opposition is continuing its call for a full public inquiry into Metrolinx; with the goal of giving Ontarians answers about long-delayed projects like the Eglinton-Crosstown LRT, and the as-of-yet undisclosed costs incurred by the province’s taxpayers.
Shadow Minister for Public Transit Doly Begum (Scarborough Southwest) points to a culture of secrecy at Metrolinx.
“We have waited far too long for Metrolinx, or the Ford government to be accountable to Ontarians,” said Begum. “The constant delays and deflection we’ve seen from both parties can only be explained by major issues. The people of our province deserve to know what they are, and how much extra costs have come with them.
“Metrolinx’s bloated, overpaid executive staff continues to light billions of taxpayer dollars on fire, while the Conservatives sit idly by. The fiasco along Eglinton alone has cost businesses and families their livelihood.
“Enough of the Premier's inaction, and enough of Metrolinx’s shadiness. It’s time for Doug Ford to launch a full inquiry into Metrolinx so Ontarians can learn the truth, and so we can prevent future messes such as this.”
We're so happy to have you on the team. We'll be in touch soon.
